About

Hi. I’m Erica Hess. I founded Plume in 2008 to focus on what I enjoy and excel at most – writing messaging and content for socially and environmentally responsible organizations. My background as a public relations strategist takes my offerings well beyond clever turns of phrase. I help clients identify and achieve their business objectives through clear communication.

I previously spent more than a decade developing comprehensive public relations campaigns at top global agencies including Burson Cohn & Wolfe and FleishmanHillard. My clients have included Dell, Seventh Generation, Whole Foods Market, Don’t Mess with Texas, the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. My work has been recognized with local, state and national awards including the industry’s highest honor, the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil Award.

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor of journalism degree. I live in Southwest Austin with my husband, daughter, dog and bird. My off-the-clock superpowers include meal planning, power walking past joggers and looking good in hats.

“I could say amazing things about Erica until I’m blue in the face. She is a rock-solid communications whiz. She is sharp, organized, a great writer and she will have fun along the way.”

Former Global PR Director, Whole Foods Market
