American Campus Communities is the nation’s largest developer, owner and manager of high-quality student housing communities. Its CEO started as a resident assistant and went on to redefine an entire industry. ACC’s 25th anniversary in 2018 presented an opportunity to tell the company’s remarkable story and underscore its leadership. However, the story needed to be interesting to a wide audience of analysts, partners, employees, parents and students.
PLUME SOLUTION:
I wrote an interactive timeline for ACC that broke 25 years of corporate history into mini case studies and milestones juxtaposed with fun pop culture facts from each year. The case studies and milestones translate complex financial transactions into relatable achievements for non-industry readers. The pop culture facts use nostalgia to further connect readers to the story.
ACC then enlisted me to turn this timeline into its 2018 Annual Report. The company, which is the industry leader in green building, continues to hire me for white papers, brochures and web copy related to its environmental, social and governance strategies.
